What Is Autism?
Autism is a part of how some children and adults experience the world - it can affect communication, sensory needs, and how they interact. My son Amais is autistic, and he inspired this brand. Amaïs' World is about celebrating kids like him through cozy, colorful pieces made with purpose and love.
What I Noticed As A Mom
- Didn't respond when I called his name
- Showed no sense of danger (like running into the street to climbing high places)
- Frequently banges his head
- Had intense tantrums that were hard to calm
- Repeated phrases or senses from to shows (scripted speech)
- Flapped his arms when excited or running
- Covered his ears around loud or unexpected sounds
- Lined up toys instead of playing with them
- Frequently took toys apart
- Would run off in public settings with no warning
- Tried to elope from the house or yard
