Why Amaïs' World Exists
Amaïs' World was created in the middle of my pain, my prayers, and my purpose. I’m Monique — a wife, a chef, a mom of four, including my handsome autistic son named Amais who changed my entire world.
Before autism was ever diagnosed, I noticed things that felt unfamiliar compared to my previous pregnancy. I did what many mothers do: I researched, I observed, and I worried. I brought up my concerns to the pediatrician, but they suggested we wait until he was three to evaluate. The waiting list was long, and that waiting period was filled with uncertainty.
When my son turned three in November 2024, he was officially diagnosed with autism and hyperactivity. That day changed me. I cried. I broke. I didn’t fully understand what it meant — and truthfully, I wanted my son to be what the world calls “normal.” But in that breaking came a deep understanding: my son is normal — he is incredibly special, and he deserves a world that sees him the way I do.
In public, people stared. At home, some friends and family made me feel uncomfortable. So I stopped going out. But one night — overwhelmed and tearful — I cried out in prayer. I asked God for strength, for clarity, and for change. That night, the vision for Amaïs' World was born.
Named after my son Amais, it stands for:
A.M.A.I.S. — All Minds Are Incredibly Special.
Through storytelling, design, and imagination, we are building a world that celebrates the unique beauty of autistic children — a world that’s bright, inclusive, and bold.
But it doesn’t stop there.
From that vision came our nonprofit arm: Amaïs' Village — a place of real support for families just like ours. It’s not just about awareness. It’s about action, inclusion, and a true sense of belonging. Whether through future events, resources, or shared stories, we are building a village where no one has to feel alone.
This isn’t just my story.
It’s our story — yours, mine, and every child who deserves to be embraced just as they are.
